SINGLES & DOUBLES RETURNS

After a break of three years the Singles and Doubles returned  to The Namco Funscape bowl at Norwich and although numbers were slightly down on previous years a good weekend was enjoyed by all.

We began on Saturday with the Doubles and the Handicap Event which went to Mark and Paul Simpson of Sheffield  from Rob Tulloch and Andy Eeles of East Yorkshire with Rob Tulloch and Neil Shakesbury also East Yorkshire in 3rd.  Scratch was won by Trevor and Brian Dixon of Bradford from Alan Simpson and Tom Gardiner of Sheffield with level scores and decided on countback .Adam White and Andy Parker East Yorkshire finished in 3rd.

Sundays singles was dominated by Tom Gardiner of Sheffield taking Handicap with 816 from Barbara Lusher Black country on 796 and Adam  White East Yorkshire with The scratch went to Paul Simpson of Sheffield 0n 729 ahead of Mark Simpson also Sheffield with 712 3rd place was taken Andy Parker of East Yorkshire on 689   

The Ladies handicap went to Barbara Lusher of Black Country with 796 with Susan Tyler (East Yorkshire ) 2nd   on 755 and Amanda Bond Brummies in 3rd. Sam Shenton of Brummies took the scratch with 558  ahead of Alison Monaghan (C.T.Plus Yorkshire) and Kerry Day of Brummies.

Overall the handicap event was taken by  Tom Gardiner by 102 pins from Trevor Dixon with Jose Day of Brummies a further 31 adrift. The scratch event went to Paul Simpson ahead of Mark Simpson and Andy Parker . The Ladies overall handicap was won by Sam Shenton  ahead of Susan Tyler and Michelle  Carey whilst the scratch event was taken by Barbara Lusher ahead of Pamela Berry of Leeds and Alison Monaghan. The Final trophy, the merit award, was  presented to a non bowler in Teresa Votier who looked after the raffle and also assisted procuring many of the trophies..

Again we had an excellent weekend and hopefully the numbers will show an increase next year when by a unanimous request we will return to Norwich on 20th & 21st May 2023. We now look forward to the Team Event in Dunstable on 24th  and 25th September.
